Ghost CatfishFish Care Description

Freshwater

The beautiful Glass catfish or Ghost catfish as they are sometimes called really do live up to their name as their skeleton shows through their glass like long slender body. Glass catfish make a fascinating addition to any aquarium and are an ideal choice for families with children.

Ghost catfish or Kryptopterus bicirrhis are found in the warmer regions of South East Asia and Borneo and can grow up to 3-4 inches with a lifespan of 5-6 years.

Housing

The Ghost catfish tank should be at least 20 gallon with a temperature set at (7.2-8.0) with a water ph of (6.8-7.6) Give plenty of large leaved plants and rocks for these catfish to hide among as they have a very shy timid nature and when stressed will not eat and may die. It is a good idea to purchase Ghost catfish in groups of 5 or 6 so that they can shoal to help them feel safe and less vulnerable.

Feeding

The Ghost or Glass catfish require a wide range of frozen and live foods like the brine shrimp, Daphnia and small worms, mosquito larvae should also be added to the Ghost catfish diet and given once or twice per week. If you look closely at these fish you can actually see the food they have eaten inside their see-through body.
